2 barrel Mercarb leak

The carb is off a 1989 mcm 4.3 litre. There is a hole in the bottom/side of accelerator pump where fuel is leaking out at low idle. The leak is not inside carb but rather out the side onto the top of the intake manifold. The boat runs and idles fine. It also accelerates fine. I have taken apart and rebuilt the carb and this did not fix the problem. It had the newer style accelerator pump without the screen and check ball. I am wondering if there should be a hole in the bottom/side of the accelerator pump cavity or if I can just fill it in. Any thoughts on this would be great.

Thanks for the response. A little more info. I know an aluminum check ball goes in the older style accelerator pump. I am not sure with the newer style. The service manual shows/says nothing about one. The part number for the carb is 33049565. Date code is 8703

The alum check ball in the older mercarb is internal to the pump well. The hole you are indicating is a hole made in manufacture. There is a steel "bb" peened into that hole to plug it. Well, there was a BB peened into that hole.

Yeah there is a plug the should be in there. If you can't get the plug dry the carb out and use a little Jb weld. Just keep the Jb plug about 1/8" thick as you don't want to fill the internal passage
