2.5 won't idle

It's weird on cold start up the motor won't idle in nutral unless you keep giving it gas. It won't go away until you smack it into gear then it will idle like a champ. I'm thinking choke, but I'm not really a carb person. So if someone could give me some direction on what I should do.

Sounds like rebuild and tuneup time.<br /><br />Have you tried a decarb, seafoam the intake/carb, plugs, wires, & cap?<br /><br />Is it new gas or old? Might need new gas if it's old stuff.<br /><br />To verify the choke... When it's cold, you should advance throttle to give it a little gas and close the choke, then take off air cleaner and make sure choke is closed. That will tell you if it's choke related.<br /><br />If it hasn't been run over the winter, I'd guess bad fuel, needs carb cleaning and a tune-up.
