2.5 Mercruiser dies at 1200rpm in gear

My engine dies at that rpm in gear every time. Pull the throttle back to under that and it’s fine. It’ll run all day. New plugs wires coil electronic ignition. The accelerator pump works.
After it dies I prime it to get it to start again.
When in neutral it runs fine at any rpm.
Before I pull the carb and clean out the main jets
Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Since you have to prime the motor it might be the pump
