2.3 omc outdrive ?

hello! new to this forum and i have a ?. is water suppose to come out of the cover plate? i have a book ordered but who knows when it will get here.

No. Remove the 3 bolts. To the cover. You will find your raw water pump housing in there ,make sure the small tube is stuck on the plastic housing that could be the problem, or the housing gasket is bad, get yourself a gasket kit and/or a new pump impeller and housing seal kit. If you don't know the last time it has been off, might be worth a look at the impeller.

ok i figured it out. some one ran with no water and melted the pump housing.

That was easy, thanks for the follow up report. Make your housing o ring is in place upon install. I put an aftermarket o ring seal on not long ago and it seamed a little short on the fit. So sealing was tricky, I actually laid it on a halogen lamp for a few to soften it up and gently stretched it bigger by an 1/8" so be careful. All was ok after that, new impeller. While your there too.
