Hello: I have a 1975 9.9Hp Evinrude and I am rebuilding the carb after my engine tended to hesitate at high throttle like the fuel was being intermittently restricted (when at WOT it would lunge and slow down and lunge again), and it didn't idle well.
I have the carb off and have some questions about some of the parts in my kit. I have a plastic piece that looks like a small little squared funnel, about 2mm in diameter. Is this the bearing (slow speed seat) and if so, am I supposed to shove it into the slow speed channel. I didn't seem to see one in there when I took out the needle. Would this create my running condition above?
Also, in my kit I have three little metal saucer type disks of slightly different diameters of about 7/16", 1/4" and 3/16". What are these for? The answer may go with my next question. Am I supposed to pop out the core plug and if so how and is there more than one. Mine seems to be glued in and I do not have any glue to put it back if I could get it out.
Lastly, when inspecting my slow speed needle with a magnifying glass, at times when my eyes gloss over (because it is so small) it looks like I might see some scratches, maybe even a slight bend, but then again maybe not. Would a defect that causes any real problems be something that would be quite obvious? I don't have another needle to replace it at the moment.
Thanks for your help.
