Re: 1'st jetski

i don't want to disuede ya from gettin a pwc. but i bet it'll need more than a carb rebuild. pwc in my opinion break pretty fast. impellers get chewed, SS wear rings go south after the impeller gets chewed. all cables will stretch and become non seviceable. 2 stoke pwc motors don't last to long either. generally speaking i 'm thinkin ya get abuts 200hrs before a top end rebuild, perhaps 300-400 before ya gots to have a full rebuild. and that may be askin more than it'll give ya.
i'm sure someone else will come by and let ya know more. but i personally would beware of a 11 year old seadoo......i'm afraid your carb rebuild just aint gonna get it up and running to make ya happy. if ya want something to work on instead of ride. this may be just what ya need though. it just depends on what ya want to do....but be prepared to sink some bread into it and ya may end up needing to put more into it than it's worth. or ya could have had a new ski if ya's have saved yer bread for something a bit newer......
i never done a carb rebuild on a pwc but from what i understand the carbs are about as simple as a carb gets on a older 2 stroke pwc......of corse, this is only my opinion.......good luck in yer adventure.......

if that ski was in good running condition it may be worth 1300 but not running it is worth about half of that, and carbs are pretty tricky if you don't have a pop off gauge and know what you are doing, always do a compression check on any 2 stroke you are thinking of buying used. carbs should run around 100 each to have rebuilt including the parts, if that is the problem. sea doo fuel systems have a lot more issues than just carbs. and carbs are always to blame even if they are not the problem. find out the symptoms that make the person think the carbs are bad and I can tell you what the usual cause will be in most cases. but don't even consider it for that price, those are obsolete hulls and awful poor in the handling dept plus the seat is like sitting on a board. those pumps don't have stainless liners but the bearings and seals are known for failing and the drive shafts give you problems etc

A lot of folks are getting rid of their two-strokes in favor of the four-strokes.

Maybe you can find one only four or so years old for a good price - I did.

I bought a 2001 Sea Doo GTX DI which is not noisy, and does very well on gas and oil. And the best part is that it is fast!!d:)

4 strokes came out in 02. yamaha, then honda i think......
i don't know what a good price is....mine is nada priced at about 6500 with a trailer and cover and aftermarket SS impeller... don't know if nada is right, but that's what they say. i suppose it's more about what the market will bear probably......

Well, When I get another Jetski, it will be after '02, I just got one, 10 years old, 3 seater. I think I know why the guy sold it ---- It LOVES gas! But it runs good ( guess you get what you pay for!).

Shoot, guess I should look at the postings more offten! I appear to have missed this.

I got a '96 SeaDoo GTX, and payed 2k for it and its trailer.. If you looked at other posts of mine, I had talked about the issues I had with it, but in general, it works great! the kid loves it as it puts out a big spray to the sides. ( and she can spray her friends easily!).

PS It appears to only love gas when there are 3 people on it, when there is only one, it keeps on going .......

I also discovered it can spin on its nose! ( and if you continue, I'm sure I would get to see the bottom of the lake!)
