1st Boat

I have jusr bought my first boat. Its a 15 foot Boston Whaler Clone with a 30 HP Motor.

I am looking for info on the motor. The tag says Made in Japan 30E Serial 689 S 104575 from what I have seen on this site its a 1982 motor.. anyone agree ? how hard will it be to find parts for ?

I have a friend that has been boating alot longer than me that has told me that he think the motor even though it says Mariner on it that its really a Yamaha (like my Iszuz with the GM engin in it) He thinks that Yamaha parts will fit it ...

Welcome
As I understand it some Mariner 30 before 87 are Yamaha.
Perhaps others as well.

Yep, it's a 1982. Mercury also made these Mariner engines in that era but most likely Yamaha if it says made in Japan.

Thanks for the fast responce. I read that someonewas looking for a water pump impella and had the Mariner one for 55 and the Yamaha was 22 bucls ... I guess my parts shop will have to have the final say ... anyone know where I can get a manual for this engin ...all I can find is the US made ones
