Hi folks,
Just beginning to suss out an old 3HP 2-stroke yamaha that came with a sailboat I just bought.
Put the engine in bucket of water and tried pulling a number of times but motor wouldn't fire. Took out spark and had drops of water so decided would warrant taking apart and cleaning the carb (the motor had been sitting at least a couple years before I bought the boat. Ive done my own carb cleaning on other motors Ive had -merc, tohatsu and suzuki). Carb was filthy but managed to get every thing tidied up and put together.
The problem is: now trying again but the pull start is completely jammed! Wont pull out more than a couple inches. I must have inadvertently done something to cause the jam...something simple that I forgot to check/re-attach etc.....I'm drawing a blank. Any ideas from you clever forum folks?
The motor in definitely in neutral and prop spins freely. Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions!
Cheers--
