I have a situation where my Ski runs fine for 20 min or so then died while decelerating. At this point the starter would not turn the engine, just a clicking noise. didn't check the temp under the seat but there were no overheat indications form the panel. After sitting 10 min or so it would crank and start and could idle. Any major throttle movement after this would make it stop and then again wouldn't crank until it "cooled" for awhile. I'm afraid it was seizing up and then would start again after cooling but I don't really know. Did a compression check 112, 111 AND 60 any ideas? advice Thanks

It seems to me that your engine is overheating and trying to seize, manndk.

The low compression on #3 suggests a major problem. There is some chance that a decarb treatment would help, but I forsee an engine teardown and maybe replacement.

Sounds to me like you need to stop in your tracks and get a new piston w/ rings... BUT!!!! recently I was called to repair a tiger shark which was doing the same thing. Luckily this guys thermo sensor wouldn't let him crank engine after it died. I first checked compression, 100 and 30 lbs. I put a little oil in #2 spark plug hole, checked oil tank (empty)and filled it, cranked her up and she ran okay on the trailer for a couple of minutes. I then put her in the water and she ran pitiful for a few minutes until I ran in several tight circles at WOT leaning to the left which blew everything out the exhaust and cleared the water box. It seemed to run better all the time. That was 3 weeks ago and the customer reports that it has run great since. My suspicion is that it was on the brink of burning a piston and one of the rings had begun to stick. My theory is that the new lube and the running helped to free up the sticking ring and the carbon from the oil helped give it a better seal. After riding it for about an hour I checked the compression and had an even 130 lbs on both cylinders.
