Recently bought a 1999 Chris Craft 200 bowrider with a throttle bodied 5.0 volvo engine. This boat has never been owned or titled & only has 2.5 hours on the engine. It has been sitting at a dealer for about 2 years untouched & unused accept for the sun's damaging rays and a demo or two. I took it out memorial day weekend for the first time since having it. Before I did though, I did have the oil, filter, & lower unit fluid replaced. The engine ran smooth & idled well, but had no power off the line or top end. Took a good 12 seconds or so just to begin planing out & never could get faster than 36 mph. I realize the engine is new & requires a "break in" period, but something is not right. The local Volvo dealer says that their computer diagnostic says nothing is wrong. My previous boat that had a 4.3 volvo carberated engine would "jump" out of the water and top out at 54mph. What could this be? Would love to hear your ideas. thank you.
