Got a no-start condition and cannot find the problem. The motor is a 1999 Volvo 4.3 GL. Turn the key, get a faint click and then nothing. Before researching here, I picked up a new starter and solenoid. Installed it, but get same result.
Started this process with a test light:
http://forums.iboats.com/mercruiser...ting-your-engines-starting-system-167035.html
Ignition switch... OK
Test light to terminal C... OK
Test light on terminal A... OK
Test light from A to D... OK
Moving on
Test light to A again... OK
Test light to B, turn key... Fail
Procedure says I have bad slave soleniod, but I have a relay instead. I switch relay from the other motor, still no-start.
Now I test a couple of other things. Test light clipped to wire "B" at starter. NOTE: wire is not connected to starter. Turn key, test light lights up.
Now attach wire to starter terminal B. Turn key, test light lights briefly and goes out.
Next I jumped terminal A to B on starter and it wants to crank up.
Not sure what to check next.
