I recently bought and had installed a 15hp carb om my 9.9 mercury it is not performing as I anticipated. Is there any thing else that I can do? I have thought about getting a different prop, but do not know if this will help either. Any help would be appreciated.

Changing the carb is only one part of the equation. This has been discussed in detail(rather heatedly) within the past couple of weeks. Check those postings and it should answer a lot of questions you haven't even thought of yet.

Look for posts from WWYC na7 (right now toward the top of page 2 if the index) and LTC Birkett (right now toward the bottom of page 1). Start with the WWTC na7 first. Then LTC Birkett. (probably the same gentleman) The titles of the threads are similar to yours.

No, Not the same gentleman... But willy is right. My post is taken from the actual parts manual and lists all those required (with parts numbers) to convert to or from 9.9/15 to the other.....

carb, throttle shaft, main fuel jet, adapter plate w or w/o exhaust tube, and the DECALS to make it right...

It is possible but not something I would do with my BRAND NEW 9.9 but may consider down the road....

Take care,
Bill

You mean you really ARE in Cambodia? I thought that was just a ruse. Don't I feel like a dope! Any doctors out there? I need a scrip for foot-in-mouth disease. I guess I'll have to change my name to WillyBWrong. ;)

I humbly apologize if I offended you. Considering your location, I wouldn't worry too much about the Merc cops. Lawsuits, either. Here in the States an old lady can win $millions for burning her crotch with hot coffee she got at a fast food drive-thru and set in her lap. I highly doubt a Cambodian court would even consider something so absurd. Or any other country on the planet, for that matter.

It's a crying shame that ridiculous lawsuits have everyone looking over their shoulders around here. But all a slick lawyer needs is one misstep and he'll wipe out everything you worked your whole life for. As you can see BassMan, this very subject comes up all the time. And in my opinion, you just can't be too careful these days. At least you don't have to worry about warranty issues anymore. And those decals should keep you out of court should something unexpected happen. Then again...
