My Mercury 200 Hp motor dropped the # 1 piston because a clip came loose. I had the motor redone and I just had a rod come loose. I am wodering if the dealership is responsible, since I have only had the motor back for 2 1/2 months. Needles to say the warranty on the motor was out when the clip holding the psiton came loose. mercury would not cover it even though it was a defect.

Don' know much good it'll do but I think I would "suggest" to the dealer ( or who ever repaired it last time) that they bear some responsibility, especially if the loose rod is the same hole the wristpin clip was replaced in.

g/luck & c/6

Hooty

Did the dealer tell you mercury wouldn't cover you problem or did you call mercury direct. I had a problem with a 94 merc 200, (this was in 98) the dealer was going to charge me $ 5500.00 to install a new powerhead, dealer told me merc wouldn't pay because it was out of warranty. I called merc and they sent new power head and pay the whole bill. Give it a try.

Happy boating.
