So I have a 1999 Mercury 150 EFI that has an ignition issue. It has a rough idle and runs rough up until I get around 3000 RPM’s and then it picks up, but I have still lost around 500 RPM’s at WOT. I have replaced HP fuel pump, fixed all fuel leaks, and changed filters. I checked the stator and the trigger and they both were in spec. While at idle if all portside plugs wires are removed it does not effect the idle. If any starboard plug wires are removed it will die, so I am idling on 3 out of 6 cylinders it appears. On the wires coming from the power pack responsible for portside firing the connectors were burnt, and looked like they got too hot at one point where they connect to coil packs. I believe that my issue lies with the power pack. Does anyone have any other thoughts, or do you think I’m on the right track. Thanks in advance!
