I am looking at my first boat in many years. This comes within a 220BR 1999 Sea Ray.
I would like some light on what should I expect from this motor and, assuming it has been well maintained -which I will validate-, what should be my main concerns with this motor....anyone has had experience with this in a similar boat?
Thanks for your light.

That 5.7 is a solid motor... sure you have owned something with a small block chevy? That motor has been around forever and parts are about the cheapest in existence. That should have the vortec heads which are better than the older. Is this a carb motor? 2 or 4 bbl? Either way... should move that hull without issues. If you stay out of wot it should do ok on fuel as well. Goodluck!

350 Chevys have been around for a long time, If maintained well, it will be there for you for a long time too. You will more then likely, put more money into the drive, and boat then that motor. The Merc drive is good also, I would pay attention to bellows, and find out when the last time they where changed, and gimble bearings. Was this boat used in salt water?

I have 1997 Sea Ray 215 EC with the 5.7L 2bbl carb. It runs like a top. I perform the annual mainatince every year adn I've never had a problem. WOT runs about 40mph, but this is a deep V cuddy and we tend to pretty loaded down most times. I think you'll be happy with the performance. My hole shot is a little week, but that's why they have trim tabs.

Let us know how the sea trial goes.

5.7 GM is probably the most reliable, easy to maintain, lowest cost to maintain and fix, best performance for the dollar ever made!
