1999 johnson 200hp stalls when docking

Hi,<br /> I own a 1999 johnson 200hp that is mounted on a 1999 23' walkaround. My problem is that after cruising and the boat running great it stalls when I go to dock. I have to cruise for 8-10 min at 5mph back to my marina. When I get ready to dock is when the engine stalls . My brother noticed that the middle left carbs' bowl had a screw loose and was leaking fuel . Does anyone think that was the problem or where I should go after fixing that? Thanks for any help and I will update after we fix that.

I would fix the screw first and then see what happens you might have a carb loading up on you a little if so you might want to run some carb cleaner mixed with your gas for a couple of tanks and see if that clears it up.

By the way I would recomend seafoam for the carb cleaner

What plugs are you running? Is the gas fresh? And it doesnt count as fresh if it sat all winter and new gas was added.

Hello,<br /> Running the champions that the motor calls for. As for the gas I don;t know how old the gas is but I do know that it is a 110gal tank. So far added gas two times this year 30gal in April and 25gal last week. Tightened up the bowls today and ran the seafoam through. Engine seamed to run smoother but smoked more than before. Ran out of time to take it on a test ride but hope to do that in the next couple of days. Wish me luck!!!
