HI
I just bought a 1999 21' Seaswril Striper WA with a 150 Johnson Ocean Pro.

Does the Ocean Pro mean this is a salt water engine ?

Is it possible to put a upper water flush connection so I can flush it in the
water as I plan on using it in salt.

I ordered a repair manual from this site but where can I find an owners manual for the engine.

Thanks Rod

Never heard an engine called a salt water engine.

I have 2 Johnson 150,s like yours since 1995. Used only in salt water. Have never flushed and no problems yet. Guess flushing is better if you have the time.

Tilt engine to flush in water. Use rabbit ears if no built in connections.

Rod, Discount marine stores sell a quick disconnect flushing attachment for that motor. You remove the black plug just under the powerhead in the back, and screw in the attachment. You can flush it in the running position, motor on or off, or tilted up, with the motor not running. I usually connect the hose, start it up (motor in running position) run for a few minutes, turn off the ignition and tilt the motor up, before removing the hose.

This is a heck of a lot easier than using the muffs, when the boat is in the water.

Thanks for the info. Is this the right plug in the attached picture?

Rod, That is the plug. A garden hose will also screw into the hole. The quick disconnect is more convenient.

Is that the same place the little stream of water comes out when it is running? Will that still work with the quick disconnect?

Rod, You're really paying attention. The Marine quick disconnects have a hole drilled in them that you can adjust so it sprays to the side, where the driver can see it. It acts like the telltale. I would think that a garden hose quick connect could be drilled as well.

He Rod,

I too just bought a 1999 21' Seaswirl with a Johnson 130 Hp. I'm concerned about the RPM's topping out at 4200, with a top speed of about 30 MPH.

So my question to you is what is your Max RPM and at speed? I had a lot of barncales on the bottom that I cleaned off. But the seams to be a sluggish.

James.

James, It sounds like your motor is overpropped. Try a prop with two inches less pitch

James, look at something other than just a prop change. You're looking for almost 2000 rpm, something besides the prop is wrong. Start a new thread (if you haven't already) and post your prop size and what all you've done.
