Just picked up a boat and motor for fishing and took it on a quick shake down cruise last night. Runs great, but I would like to tighten up the steering a little. While setting the rods while trolling keeping her straight was a problem. I was thinking if I could stiffen up the play a bit, it would be easier to set lines and catch fish without constantly having to steer. Is there an adjustment somewhere I can make? Thanks!

No
It's screw # 40 and spring #37 in the diagram below.
The screw bears on #41 in the top swivel bearing

I am sure your owners manual will show you the adjustment screw clearly

You need to get a manual.

For a 1999 motor it should be avaialble from your dealer. Maybe even from iBoats

The screw you need is in your pic by the tag. The far right side of your pic shows the hex bolt with a slot.

Got home and tightened her up. Bring screwdriver with me tomorrow for fine tuning. Salmon fishing with the boy a couple days after ice out. Should be good! Thanks and I will let you know how it worked out!

Thanks for the help. Have it adjusted the way I want. 4 salmon in the boat! Love it when a plan comes together!
