1999 Force 40

I use sparkplug L76v and recently L78v. Will the L78v cause damage. Can I use a traditional plug B9HS-10 and if so what is the gap? I would like to use a traditional plug if I can find one that is safe.

Also, My motor runs good except for a studder between 1500 and 3000 rpm. I can shove the throttle on down and it stops around 3000 rpm every time. How can I stop this?
