I am in the process of rehabilitating my old Ciera and need a new prop bad. What size/pitch is recommended for this model? I have a 5.0 L Mercruiser with an Alpha 1 outdrive. I would rather use stainless, if that makes a difference. Thanks for any help.

Re: 1999 Bayliner Ciera 2655

There is no one "standard" prop for your boat. That said, boats get gear ratios that seem to allow them to use prop pitches between 17" and 23" most of the time. In your boat's case, I would borrow someone's 17 pitch prop and test it. A 5.0 is not overpowered, by any means, on your boat, so unless you have a 1.81 outdrive ratio, you'll end up using a faifly low pitch prop. Try a prop out, get detailed results and repost with those results and we'll be glad to help more, if we can.
