1999 9.9 four stroke wont stay runnin

i have a 1999 9.9 mercury four stroke that wont stay running for long. it starts right up but then about 20 min later it just stops when i go to restart it it just turns over and wont start again until the nex day. thanks

When you say "it just stops" does it seem like it's being flooded? Does it stumble alot before shutting down? When you remove the shroud and look at the carb can you see into the venturi? If so, is there any signs of an excessive amount of unburnt fuel in the venturi?

yes it kinda sputters alittle then dies. then it one get started again. what do you think. i did unscrew the screw beside the carb. to check if there was any water and there was alot of gas comming out. there was not any water though.
