1999 9.9 4 Stroke Model 410EL 4EEB Piston question

I had a connecting rod go on my 9.9. I now have the motor tore down. Can someone please help me out?
I need to know which direction the arrows point on the top of the pistons. I did not see the the arrows when removing them because of the carbon built up on the top of the pistons. I do have a shop manual, and they mention nothing about the arrows.

Arrows on 4-stroke pistons normally point to 'front' of engine, which in this case will be UP.
Arrows on 2-strokes normally points towards exhaust.
Not sure what will 'fit' in your case.
