Asking this for a friend that just bought this boat, its a 1999 21' profisher with a 125 Merc outboard. Nice boat but we found something odd today. It rained the other evening and he found standing water in his step down into his cuddy. We noticed there is a floor drain there but no water was draining, uopn further investigation we found that the hole where the drain is is filled with foam (floatation foam) I assume. There is no where for the water to drain to??? I would have thought that the hole would lead to the bottom of the boat allowing the water to travel to the bilge area so it could be evacuated by the bilge pump. So we removed the fuel cell cover and it seems the tank sits directly on the bottom of the boat and there is some kind of cloth or cushion under the tank. The standing water seems to be being absorbed by the foam. Why would a boat company do this or is it common practice? He plans onm pulling the fuel tank and running some PVC up to that floor drain in the step down so water can drain off the floor and int the bilge.
