I have a 1999 200 ocean pro- runs like a madman- then goes into slow mode wont turn over 3000 rpm. idle along for a while while trolling(all you can do when 15 miles out trying to get in) and after 20 -30 mins runs like a madman again. It seems to be worse when you have been running and slow down I have changed the plugs, fuel filters, checked the oil system all fine

while running on the flush muffs, I noticed the water stream coming out is hot. is this normal or is the waterpump - thermostats going out

Really need any ideas as to what is putting it in slow mode.

Overheat sensors only sensors that puts S.L.O.W in operation, replace waterpump assy, check cooling system.

Robert, The overheat sensor on the cylinder head is wired to the powerpack. If the motor detects an overheat problem, the wire to the powerpack is grounded. This puts the motor into the SLOW mode. Since you observed an overheating condition, it sounds like the SLOW system is working properly. The cure is to replace the waterpump impeller. if that doesn't cure it, test and replace the thermostats if necesssary.
