I have an 18 foot 1975 searay, the motor is shot. I have found a used 1998 yamaha C115. It is 115 horsepower and it has 100-200 hour on it. The only thing I have to by is the controls. They are asking 2500.00. Does anyone think this is a good deal, has any one had troubles with this motor. He said it has been properly maintained and he has the documents to prove it. I have only ever had mercs so I am not sure about Yamaha and I dont want to give out 2500 bucks for a piece of junk.

thanks for any advice,
mike

I have a 97 C115 on a 22' deckboat. It has over 200 hours on it, almost all in salt/brackish water. No problems other than cleaning the crud off the t-stat.

the c115 is about the most durable motor ever made. failures are almost always customer induced. make sure all the rigging is yamaha not aftermarket.
that means no teleflex no marine works.
also make sure the shaft lengths of the old and new motors are the same.
