1998 SeaRay 240 Sundeck Ocean safe?

I'm looking at buying a 98' 240 Sundeck.. Do you guy's think this boat is safe enough for a 20 mile trip from long beach to catalina?

I would not think so. I had a Sundeck as well and did not feel very comfortable out in the open ocean. This is from the owners manual of a 2002 240 Sundeck:

"Your 240 Sundeck is Design Category C"

The wind speed and wave height specified as the upper limit for your category of boat does NOT mean that you or your passengers can survive if your boat is exposed to these conditions. It is only the most experienced operators and crew that may be able to operate a boat safely under these conditions.

Category C Inshore
Maximum wind speed: 27 KNots(31MPH)
Maximum Wave Height" 2 Meters (6.5 Feet)
Boat use is limited to coastal waters, large bays, estuaries, lakes and rivers.

Besides the manual, is there a site that has those ratings for different boats? I wouldn't mind seeing where the different boats rate.
