First couple of weekends on the water the ski did fine. Now it won't go over 35mph. Changing out the plugs and gapping them to the .28 specifications didn't help either. What are yalls thoughts?

Re: 1998 Polaris 1050 sltx won't go over 35mph

Man, I had the same problem last year with my 98 GTX Limited, would run GREAT for a little while, 60+, and then all of a sudden would bog down. I, of course would always open the engine cover to look for a culprit and see a bilge full of water, could never explain where the water was coming from but every time I pulled the ski out of the water and let it drain, and put it back in, it would run fine. So I decided to yank the whole pump housing out this winter and try to find what could be causing it. When I pulled out the housing, naturally, the axle had to come out as well. when I pulled the axle through the through hull bearing, out came all the needles for the bearing with it. That bearing was FRIED! So I rebuilt that bearing and seals and put it in the water a couple of weekends ago and ran great, all day and best of all not a drop of water in the bilge! I can only assume that was the cause. Just something to check bud! Good luck!
