I have tried my local dealer to no avail. The 25 and 30 hp motors appear to be same after much research. The only difference I can find between the 2 is the float level andcarb adjustment. Does anybody know if I set my motor up to the 30 hp specs , will I make that extra 5 hp.Any ideas or thoughts greatly appreciated.

Re: 1998 Honda 25 H.P. question

Greg,
The only true way to tell the differences is to get the microfische on both and compare part numbers. It may be a simple carb rejetting or it might not. I have the 40hp and once looked into making it a 50 since it shares the same block, carbs and practically all of the same parts. Only after some research did I find out that the difference was with the cam shaft. I was hoping it was something simple, but I decided replacing the cam was not an economical option. In my case, I decided to just live with the 40. It wasn't worth the cost and hassle just to gain a few extra horses.

Nav

Greg,
You can usually find the microfische for your model year on Ebay for about 10 bucks.

Nav
