Hi there,
I am considering bying a 1998 17 foot FourWinns with a 3L Volvo. Should I look at the 4.3L Volvo's instead with this boat?
Is one engine more reliable than the other?
I don't plan on doing lots of water sports with it but may pull the odd water skier or tube with it.
Thanks for any advice.

I had this same boat. With 2 or 3 people and no more than a 19" pitch prop (17 better), it did great with good fuel usage @ 3200 cruise. Is a 4.3 better? Yes, but it was a $1800-2200 option and that increase continues into resale. The 3.0 is a tough little motor that has proven itself over the years. The only thing I would upgrade on this motor is, if it is points ignition, convert to electronic ($100).

Hi, I am looking at the same type of boat with the 4.3l motor. Would you suggest the 17 or 19 pitch prop.

Thanks,

With a 4.3L in a 17ft boat I would suggest a 19 pitch prop. just my own opinion tho.
