I am repowering my 1973' grady cuddy. I need help!! I have a very good dealer well regarded in this area with 2 1998 150hp ficht engines. They have had all the updates and one came off as a loner why a customer was having some work done on his motor. The one that came off the loner boat ran super said the owner. The other one had all updates and a new powerhead.I have had evinrudes and force outboards Force never again but had great luck with my other evinrude. My mechanic said the dealer is good and said not to be afraid of the ficht engine as long as the updates were done and its running good. So the question should I Ficht or walk away? Thanks for any replies to this post.

Tight lines to all
Phil

Phil,
As long as all updates have been done to the Ficht's, they should be very reliable. I would ask for documentation of all updates performed, as the origional 1998 was rather troublesome... sooted up and ate powerheads. After the corrections, they seem to be pretty bullet proof.

OMCTECH,
THANKS FOR THE REPLY. I HAVE DECIDED TO GO WITH A 1995 MERC. THE FICHT ENGINES JUST MADE ME A LITTLE TO NERVOUS AS I LIKE TO TINKER A BIT WITH MY ENGINES AND DO BASIC UPKEEP MYSELF. I GOT A GOOD DEAL ON THIS MERC AND IT WAS MOORED IN FRESHWATER SO HOPEFULLY IT WILL WORK OUT. SORRY I STRAYED FROM THE RUDE NO INSULT INTENDED.

TIGHT LINES TO ALL

PHIL
