1998 Evinrude 25HP Question

Does anyone know where the fuel filter is located as I want to replace it? Also where can I put an additional filter (inline)? Should I put it behind the primer bulb? Are there any manuals online for this motor or do I have to purchase one? The reason I ask is I am having an occasional problem with the motor shutting down and then it takes a few minutes before I can get it going again. The water pump is fine and the motor runs great once I get it running again. It seems like it is running out of gas. This happened yesterday, only the second time it has happened. Once I got it going again it ran great for another 5 hours. I think the fuel filter may be old and need to be replaced. I bought the boat used and I don't know the last time the fuel filter was repleced. Thanks for your help in advance.

http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Accessories/Literature/ this is the place for the engine and parts diagrams. if you don't know when the impeller was last changed, change it, before it leaves you stranded, or you burn up the motor. every 2-3 years. additional filter should be between bulb, and motor, but really doesn't need it. the fuel pump has a silver screw in the center of the black cover, this is the fuel filter, don't damage the gasket.

Thanks for the help. By the way what is an impeller? I am new to this repair thing. I bought the boat a month and a half ago and only have this one issue to deal with.

the impeller is the water pump on top of the lower unit (gearcase). you have to drop the lower unit to change it. if you are going to do your own maintainance, get the engine specific manual from outboardbooks.com the link i gave you above has all the engine and parts diagrams, and part list. general maintainance parts are available, by cliking parts at the top of the page.
