1998 eninrude 175 ocean pro

i have a 98 175 ocean pro every time i throttle up the check engine alarm goes off. i have checked the voltage its norm, and the water pressure is also normal. put a new tack on and the same thing. it wont do it when running on the hose only when on the water can any one help

welcome to iboats. have you check the engine temp. just because you have pressure, and pee stream, does not mean the tstats are opening and cooling the engine.

also could be fuel restriction.

i have checked engine temp with a thermo scan and all 6 cylinders are between 136 @ 141 degres. pulled the thermostates out and flushed the block. heated up the thermostates and they apper to working norm. when running it on the hose in the yard i can run it wide open with out the alarm going off but as soon as is in the water and i push the throttle up it goes off

Check Engine is a fuel restriction alarm. Clean the Antisiphon valve, and clean/replace the water seperator or other fuel filters. Check/clean the mainstrainer under the airbox.
