Re: 1998 90hp Force by Mercury marine repair record

I owned a Proline 170 with a 1998 Force 90 engine. Sold the rig last summer with about 200 hours on it. The engine worked great with no problems. Only problems I ever had were fuel line priming bulb check valve failure and spun prop hub...

Re: 1998 90hp Force by Mercury marine repair record

I own twin 1997 90hp force engines. Paid $3250 in the box for each one. They use mercury parts, and have mercury lower units.

The powerheads are the old chrysler design, updated by mercury marine. They are loud, have an unusual throttle advance (very little travel compared to other engines), and a lower upper rpm limit (5250).

For the price, they're hard to beat! But then again I'm a price shopper. Tohatsu is high on my list for the 50hp and below engines; a lot of value for the money.

Hank
