I was having a good poke around the outboard as I prepare de-winterize the boat and I noticed these nuts and bolts have corroded quite badly - it almost looks like galvanic corrosion. These appear to be the bolts that hold the steering arm to the outboard. They are still tight and solid, but I suspect their days are numbered. This is a saltwater boat btw.
I note there a grounding wire that still looks OK on one side, but it might be non-grounded somewhere else?
Has anyone seen this before on these motors? I've got the replacement nuts, but am thinking the whole bolts are going to need to be replaced too. Is this a big job? Does the powerhead need to come off to get at them?
Thoughts/advice appreciated!
