1998 4.3GL SX Alternator overcharging

On a trip down the lake this weekend running in very rough water my volt meter was reading over 15 volts. The stereo went into "protect" mode and the marine radio display went blank.

Is it time to replace the alternator or can just the regulator be changed?

Ayuh,.... Take it off, 'n bring it to yer local Rebuilder,...

They'll know what's cooked, 'n will be able to fix it,...

Waayyy cheaper than replacin' it too,...
