After my engine has warmed up for around 1/2 hour, while running around 3500 rpms or higher, the engine will suddenly drop about 1000rpms for a few seconds then return back to normal. It does this frequently after the engine is warm.

I have had mechanics come every day last week to try and fix it. They have replaced every fuel/oil filter and pump in the engine, and have tested the sensors, and replaced spark plugs, and spark plug wires. What else could it be?

Re: 1998 200HP YAMAHA FUEL PROBLEMS

Might be something in the electrical system. Sounds like a heat issue since it happens when things get hot (after 20-30 minutes). Might want to try using a hair dryer to heat electrical components while running on the hose and see if you can duplicate the problem. Have the mechanic do this and let me know what happens - I am curious.....

The engine seems to be working now, apparently one of the mechanics didn't change one of the fuel pumps but told us he did. Had it replaced today by a different guys and now its workin perfectly. :D
