1998 150hp Ficht - TP Sensor - error codes 12 and 13

I just got the ficht software and ran the diagnostics. <br /><br />Two codes appear #12 and #13 TP sensor.<br /><br />Has anyone had this problem?<br /><br />I am experiencing rough engine operation b/w 2500 - 3500RPM . . . lots of misses and sputtering. Above and below that the engine is running great. <br /><br />Engine has 185hours.

At what hour did these codes appear? Just once or multiple?

Both codes were at 157hours. The Codes did say that they were "intermittent" errors.<br /><br />I've only put on 5 hours since I bought the motor.

I think you are seeing the old "transition" problem which as I recall happens in that RPM range. In the newer engines they changed something in the computer code (among other things) to smooth out the transition. It was an emissions thing.<br /><br />I would first clear the codes, then see if they set again. Some folks just avoid cruising at the RPM range where the misfires occur. Maybe the dealer can somehow upgrade the computer ROM code.

Thanks guys. What I don't really understand is the function of the throttle position sensor. What does it do? Why the heck does the engine need one? Could a faulty Throttle Postion Sensor cause the terrible misfires/skips? <br /><br />I ordered the service manual should be here soon. hopefully that will shed some light on this problem.
