1997 yamaha waveventure 1100

I purchased a used waveventure this past winter. I don't think it was run much lately. I drained fuel, installed new plugs and new fuel filter. Added fresh gas and oil, it will run fair for 10 minutes or so, then it starts cutting out (doesn't seem to be burning the fuel). I let it idle for 2 to 3 minutes and then it will take off again. I'm wondering if I should look at the carbs or the ignition system for the root cause.

rebuild the carbs bypass the fuel switch go directly from the reservr pick up to the filter and then to the fuel pump .
