I have a 1997 yamaha waverunner gp760, the fuel sender read ok when is outside the tank but if I put it inside the tank, alarms warning no fuel, any idea what's going on?

Hi. Did the float look past its best and perhaps porous? Causing it to sink ?
Is the tank full and it’s still showing low fuel ? There is a reserve fuel system on these of course.
Sorry to ask, but presumably it’s not an alarm for low oil ? There are two tanks in there, you’ll definitely know, I’m sure. One for oil and one for fuel.
