1997 Yamaha GP1200

[JR GP1200]

I have a 1997 GP1200 with a bad hull. I am looking to take the guts out of mine and put into another hull. Does anyone know which years and models that are the same and compatible with my 97 GP1200? I have heard that models such as the GP800 and GP760 will not work as they are too short being they have a 2 cylinder as opposed to the 3 cylinder. Any help or other information is appreciated. Thanks.

Dude, that hull must have been severly messed up because mine hit a dock and somewhat destroyed. it got reglassed for cheap and is solid as a rock now. How bad. Post pictures.

I think my hull had a hole in it you could pass a bowling ball into. If yours is worse i can understand but less, find a good fiberglass dude or read how to repair fiberglass. Not that hard.

I had a 97 GP760. There were motor mounts for both 2 and 3 cylinder engines in the hull from the factory. I suspect your hull is the same and you're not seeing the mounts for the 2 cylinder due to the engine covering them. They're the same hull. Just found an old picture that reminded me that 98 hulls will also work. My brothers 760 was a 98 (covered) and identical to mine. You can just barely see mine in the photo. It's the gray seat with yellow trim on the lift behind my brothers.

The 800 hull did have different engine mounts as I recall (not positive though).

Ooopps, retraction. I just went to look at a cheap 97 gp1200 for sale. The hull didnt even look like fiberglass. More like plastic. Never mind my post above mentioning fixing it w/glass. Uninformed post. He did have the hull you were looking for though. GP1200. the engine was blown and i am not sure he knew it (comp test 120,120,70) He was asking 1000$ you could prob talk him down to half that, he has alot of aftermarket on it too. Look at the stress cracks in the front. Listing:Clist. south. fla. pompano beach
