I was out this weekend with a friend of mine and he is running a 1997 Yamaha 225 saltwater series engine. It pushes a 26' Parker (cuddy cabin). Question is: What should WOT be? We were going out with very calm seas, in fact, there were only occasional swells, and at WOT he was turning only 4600 RPM's. Is that right? He hasnt had the boat long, and I don't want him to wind up paying in the long run for not running effiecent.

That seems a bit low for WOT. What size and pitch prop?

Go to Yamaha's website, they have performance bulletins. I don't think they have one for the 25' Parker but they do for the 23'. It looks like they were using a 225 with a 13 3/4" X 17" prop and were getting 5400. You might be able to find a similar weight boat and engine.
