1997 johnson outboard

when i first start my motor up and run it for about 20 minutes it's running real sluggish ,slower getting up to a plain and top speed is about 10 mph lower.but after 20 mins it seems to run fine.it just started doing this about 2 weeks ago.could it be my fuel filter.

I doubt its your fuel filter, it's either clogged or not. 20minutes of running won't fix it.

What are we working with here?


Hunch:
Could be a stuck thermostat causing it to run too cool for the first 20. Just a guess until we know more.

1997 130 horse outboard.yeah after about 20 min the moter just seems to click and starts running right.this all started two weeks ago .i had been out on the lake there was 5 foot swells and very windy the boat ran great that day and up until then.the next time out is when it started this power lose trouble.
