1997 johnson out board 130 hp

i first start moter up it only runs 3 cylinders for about 20 min. i shut it off for 5 min start it up again .it runs on all 4, runs great for rest of day. i have no spark on one plug. i have ckecked plugs ,cables and the coil units,and continuity on wires plug side of the sending unit every thing is good from there.where do i go from here?

try trading the coil on the non firing cylinder with one of the others and see if your problem occurs on the same cylinder....it's a start.

depending on how its wired you may have to trade both coils to the opposing sides. not sure if you can swap on this year motor like the older omc's though.

how about powerpack? did you replace plugs with new? (Not just clean them neither, replace them) Take plug from dead cylinder and trade with known good plug? (I've had spark plugs do some funny things!)

starting to think its the power pack,have changed all plugs.how would you test the power pack

i'm not for certain on your year model. on the older 120's and 140's you could pull the primary lead from each individual coil (wire coming from the powerpack to the coil). Set your voltage meter to 500 volts ac and hook it up (red lead to primary wire and black lead to a clean ground on block itself). Crank the engine and if the reading was 175v or more you're in good shape. You can try this but I'm not sure if that is the required voltage for your motor. (Maybe someone else knows acceptable voltage?) Let me know how it goes.
