My Dad has a 97 Johnson 175. It was stuttering hard above 2000 RPM. I read here about temp sensors causing problems so they were disconnected and it got better. Both sensors were replaced and it ran OK for a few days. Today it was back to stuttering above 2000 RPM until the sensors are disconnected. The pee stream is barely getting warm but there does seem to be a detonation sound when running higher RPM. The fuel bulb was replaced also because of a surging condition when throttled up. The temp horn has been eliminated but the engine does not seem to be over heating. Is there any connection between the sensors and the throttle assembly that may be causing problems? The right head (the one with the dual wire sensor) does seem to be hotter then the left. Any comments would be appreciated. Sorry for the novel.
