The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
thanks jcstratt ,,,so the pitch is 21 what direction do i need to go to get more top speed , it planes out really quick so i dont need the hole shot i need more top speed thanks once again chris
Your low on the rpm side for this motor. This motor loves the 5800 range. I have a 18.5 skeeter fish n ski that came with a 21 pitch and I was getting 53 at 5400 rpm so I bought a 20 pitch raker stainless and Im getting 58 mph at 5800 rpms when its not bogging down of coarse. Being low on the rpms is lugging it and will cause problems down the road for your motor. Maybe try dropping a pitch. Do you have a jack plate?
no dont have a jack plate ,so you say i need to go down to a 20 and i will gain a couple of mph maybe even 5 !!!! what kinda prop was the 21 you had ? what brand was it ss?
The 21 pitch was omc aluminum. You need to get your rpms up to let your motor put out its full horsepower. So Im not sure how much more speed you'll get but if you drop a pitch you'll pick up that extra rpm and maybe a few more mph and save your motor. I would drop a pitch, maybe you know someone who will let ya test a prop first. If so even try a 19 if your boat is real heavy. just get those rpms up near 5800
