at times the boat will run like a top and at times the boat will miss and cut out just for a sec. and at times it wont start at all, unless u take a small screwdriver and peck on the coils ,i thought it was the coil and i replaced 1 of them but still the same problem and even moved the other coils to the other positions and still the same problem, but i am losing fire for sure , take plug out and sometimes no fire till u peck the coils any help will be thankful.

NOTE: With the wire removed as explained below, it will be impossible to shut the engine down by turning off the key in the ignition switch.

Remove the Black/Yellow wire from the raised terminal of the ignition switch. If this cures the problem, the ignition switch has an intermitent short, in which case, replace it.

If the problem continues, replace the Black/Yellow wire where it belongs on that raised "M" terminal.

If the switch checks out okay, the stator which is under the flywheel (beginning of the charging and ignition system) may be failing. Inspect it visually and if it is cracked and melting a sticky substance down on the block etc, a voltage drop will exist which supplies AC voltage to the powerpack.

That voltage drop will result in erratic and eventually no ignition/spark.

im sorry i didnt say but i already tried the black and yellow wire with no change . isnt the power pack behind the coils , could that be the problem ? i have an amp meter on the boat it shows to be charging fine. do you know why the pecking on the coils would make it start and run ,would you still think its the stator, if its charging good , it charges at 13 volts !
