I have a 1997 GP760 Waverunner. When I press the start button nothing happens, no click, not a thing. I just got a new battery over the weekend and charged it up hoping that would help but still nothing at all happens when I push the start button. It is in "start" and not the "locked" state.

I have read several posts about hearing a clicking without anything else and it seems that those posters are ususally told that the relay is bad but if there is no clicking, does that tell you something else is bad or do I still start out checking the relay?

Find your electrical box.

on one side there are 2 wire pairs that exit: black/white, and red/brown.

those are the wires from the start/stop switch.

unplug the black/white wires and try hitting the start button. If the engine starts, the problem is in your switch.

sounds like a bad switch or a bad ground wire// try jumping the solenoid with a screwdriver and see if the starter kicks in,, if so you need to start checking your switches some get water inside them and they go bad.
you can also use a jumper cable from the battery ground to the engine and see if the starter kicks on if so you have a bad ground cable from the battery,, and naturally you need to inspect your fuses too

It's easier to unplug the black/white plug and eliminate the switch as the problem before opening the e-box and jumping the solenoid. ;)

if you do open the e-box, spend the $14 and buy a new gasket - do not reuse the old one.
