1997 454 Gen Vi Aluminum Front Cover

I need to change the front crank seal on this engine. It has the aluminum front cover. I have not pulled the engine and won't be. Does this timing chain cover have stops so the new seal can be installed straight or is there a special tool that needs to be used?

I was told to be careful as the new seal could be driven in to far or uneven....
