Seems to have developed an oil leak. This is the 2 stroke lub oil finding its way down the inside of the leg and dripping from the skeg and some coming out of the exhaust thru the prop. No evidence of oil leaking from the tank, lines or pump but the oil level in the tank is dropping. Blowing a lot of smoke and the lower plug is oiling. The motor runs well and I know it is sound. Could it be that the oil is getting past the pump at rest and running into the carbs.

More thought on this. More likely that the oil is getting past the pump shaft seal and running into the lower crank case. This means that the two other cylinders are probably not getting sufficient oil. Will disconnect the tank and plug the input line hopefully retaining enough oil in the line to lub the pump for tomorrow after which the power head comes out and the pump drive shaft also and back to 50:1 mix. Everything wears I suppose.

In the past I found a blanking cover for the oil pump cavity on a 150 Black Max, Does anyone know if one exists for this motor and a part number.

So no one wants to talk to me. Not the first time but maybe what I say will be of help to someone. Hoisted the power head and removed the pump. The evidence shows that the oil was indeed leaking past the shaft seal. Unfortunately the the bearing housing will not pull and therefore the drive shaft is stuck in there. It is less work and less cost to fit a new pump rather than tearing the motor down the remove the shaft. A blanking plate with a packing piece to hold the shaft down would be an option but I don't have that. Ok a pump will do.

I'll talk to you. People who work this site regularly are usually very helpful and accurate. In that regard, if they don't know they don't throw rocks at the source just to be throwing rocks. I will throw a rock at the problem thinking it might hit the target:

I didn't want to worry about my oiler on a 10 year old 90 so I pulled the oil pump back enough to get the drive gear (and it's shaft) out and anything else that may have been loose....spacer, washer, sleeve....found nothing else, and the put the pump back on llike it was. Touched nothing else and left oil in the tank. Gear pump so nothing moves if the gears in the pump, which were driven by the drive gear, don't turn. Went to 50:1 premix and never looked back. Other folks get kits and other things but I told you what I did and it worked just fine for me.

If you are worried about scuffing due to low oil you can remove the exhaust manifold cover and water jacket (big plate on the left rear of engine block facing forward) and looking through your exhaust ports of the cylinders, have a look at your rings and piston skirts. If you do, expect corroded bolts and exercise extreme caution to prevent breaking off a bolt.

Once you get on the 50:1, I'd run a few cans of Sea Foam in your fuel (in addition to your regular mix ratio) to clean things up. All kinds of chatter on this site about the product....it works! Give that a try and come back. We'll chat some more.

Thanks for the response Texasmark. I spotted the leak when I was prepping for the season so no harm done. As I couldn't pull the pump shaft, the bearing housing was stuck in, I raised the head and replaced with a new pump. Bleeding done and ran on 50:1 to get the oil flowing. As expected lots of smoke. Ran for a while and switched over to straight gas. Ran again , still good smoke but not so much. Temps all good per infrared. Compressions all good as when I rebuilt it. a couple of years ago. This Big Foot is a great motor for this 20ft toon.
Thanks again, I was getting a little lonely.
