Ok, I recently purchased a '97 Crestliner Sportfish 1750 with a seized 115 Faststrike. Considering the otherwise mint looking condition of the motor I plan to investigate rebuilding it... especially if it's just sleeves/rebore + pistons & rings (and relevant seals). With this in mind I purchased a shop manual on ebay. Well, it arrived yesterday and, oops, it's for a V90 cross flow. The tag on my engine states 1996 (J115GLEDR) so of course I can't find a '96 looper shop manual for it. I did find a 1997 manual, however. Does anyone know if I can use the 1997 manual or whether there were any model changes to worry about? TIA.

Well, I went ahead and ordered one of the shop manuals on a CD for '96. I prefer the printed original but we'll see how this one looks since I couldn't find an original hardcopy version.

I'm still interested in opinions on the '97 manual if anyone has an idea and cares to comment though.

I think they are the same motors as far as I know.
